One of the oldest churches in North America, Notre-Dame-des-Victoires was built on the ruins of Champlain’s Habitation. Damaged by bombardment during the Conquest, it was rebuilt in 1763. Its interior decoration bears witness to the history and faith of the local people. There’s a model of the Brézé, the Marquis de Tracy’s ship, and several other ex-votos. Saint Geneviève is remembered there and the tradition of the blessed bread rolls is observed. In 1855, the church was made a diocesan Marian shrine.
