Spiritours, in collaboration with Mission chez Nous, is delighted to invite you to its second pilgrimage through Indigenous lands. Here’s a glimpse of what awaits you on this journey.
DAY 1 | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2025 | MONTRÉAL – WENDAKE – BAIE-SAINT-PAUL
The journey begins in Montréal, with the option to board in Trois-Rivières or meet the group directly in Québec City. Your first stop will be Wendake, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Wendat meal at Sagamité restaurant. Next, you’ll visit Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica for a Liturgy of the Word, including a prayer service and a talk on the significance of Saint Anne (known as Jesus’ “Kukum” or grandmother) to Indigenous communities (to be confirmed). Then, you’ll get back on the road towards Baie-Saint-Paul, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Auberge des Balcons (CITQ: 295315), a former convent.
DAY 2 | SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2025 | BAIE-SAINT-PAUL – PESSAMIT – BAIE-COMEAU
After breakfast, you’ll head to Pessamit, stopping en route at Îlets-Jérémie, a historic trading post from the 1650s where the Montagnais of the Côte-Nord region once exchanged goods. Today, the site is an important pilgrimage destination dedicated to Saint Anne. Upon arrival in Pessamit, you’ll attend an Innu-style mass led by Father Gérard before continuing to Baie-Comeau, where dinner and accommodation await at Hôtel Le Manoir (CITQ: 040924).
DAY 3 | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2025 | BAIE-COMEAU – SEPT-ÎLES
Your journey continues toward Sept-Îles, where you’ll meet Father Hermann and the Maliotenam community (to be confirmed). The day includes a mass inspired by Innu rituals, a visit to the Uashat church with its breathtaking fresco, and a tour of the Shaputuan Museum, where you’ll immerse yourself in the rich traditions of the Innu people. This museum explores the Innu’s deep connection to their ancestral lands, following their seasonal way of life. You’ll also stop by Atikuss, a boutique showcasing Indigenous craftsmanship, particularly traditional footwear. Your overnight stay will be at the Quality Inn (CITQ: to be confirmed) in Sept-Îles, located within the Uashat Innu community and featuring local Indigenous artwork.
DAY 4 | TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2025 | SEPT-ÎLES – MINGAN – SEPT-ÎLES
On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, you’ll embark on a round-trip journey (4-hour drive total) to Mingan. There, you’ll visit the Maison de la culture innue, an Innu cultural centre which overlooks the Mingan Archipelago and stands on an ancient Innu summer camp site. This location perfectly reflects the Innu people’s traditional nomadic lifestyle, symbolizing their seasonal transition between their ancestral territory (Nitassinan) and the islands. Your visit also includes a stop at the local church, infused with Innu culture, and a meeting with Oblate Father Alfred Ravelomampisandraibe. At the end of the day, you’ll return to the comfort of the Quality Inn in Sept-Îles.
DAY 5 | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2025 | SEPT-ÎLES – LES ESCOUMINS
In the morning, you’ll attend a final mass with the community before departing for Les Escoumins (4.5-hour drive). Upon arrival, you’ll set out on a whale-watching cruise with Essipit, operated by the local Innu community. Your overnight stay will be in the cozy Vacances Essipit chalets (CITQ: 181156), also run by the Innu.
DAY 6 | THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2025 | LES ESCOUMINS – MONTRÉAL
The final day will be dedicated to the return journey, with a stop along the way for lunch.
