DAY 1 | FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2025 | MONTRÉAL – CHICOUTIMI
Meet your guides in Montréal before boarding a 21-passenger minivan with your backpack, ready to head toward Chicoutimi. A stop is planned along the way for lunch (not included, $). Upon arrival, visit the Pulperie de Chicoutimi, a must-see regional museum that showcases the history of the area and its people in a stunning setting. After the visit, check in at Auberge Le Parasol (CITQ: 055451), or a similar accommodation, for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 2 | SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2025 | CHICOUTIMI – RIVIÈRE-ÉTERNITÉ – CHICOUTIMI
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, as you will each morning. Your first hiking day will lead you to the statue of the Virgin of Notre-Dame du Saguenay on Cap Trinité. From the Fjord-du-Saguenay National Park’s visitor centre, you’ll hike 7.6 kilometres (round trip) over approximately 3 to 4 hours, with an elevation gain of nearly 300 metres. Once at the summit, enjoy breathtaking views of the fjord. You’ll stop for a snack along the way. After returning, a transfer will take you back to Chicoutimi, where you’ll settle in at Auberge Le Parasol (CITQ: 055451) or a similar accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 3 | SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2025 | CHICOUTIMI – JONQUIÈRE
This morning, you can choose to depart on foot from Auberge Le Parasol for a 24-kilometre hike or from the Musée de la Petite Maison Blanche (Little White House Museum) for a 19-kilometre hike. You’ll follow the Saguenay Notre-Dame Kapatakan trails from Mont-Fortin. After a rewarding day of hiking, you’ll leave the trail and head to Motel Princesse (CITQ: 002461) or a similar accommodation. Dinner will be served at a restaurant before you settle in for the night in Jonquière.
DAY 4 | MONDAY, MAY 19, 2025 | JONQUIÈRE – HÉBERTVILLE – DESBIENS
In the morning, a minibus will take you to Hébertville (about 40 minutes), where you’ll start the day with a mindfulness exercise on the beach at the Lac-Vert campground (weather permitting). From the Hébertville church, you’ll set out on a 24-kilometre trek through agricultural lands dotted with kettles — bowl-shaped depressions in a glacial outwash drift. Snack along the way at the arboretum (featuring a shelter, restrooms, and picnic tables). For those preferring a shorter hike, an alternative starting point at the arboretum offers a 16.4-kilometre walk. Upon arrival in Desbiens, check in at Auberge Maison Zacharie* (CITQ: 276205) or a similar accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
*Please note: This accommodation has shared bathrooms.
DAY 5 | TUESDAY, MAY 20, 2025 | DESBIENS – SAINT-ANDRÉ-DU-LAC-SAINT-JEAN – LAC-BOUCHETTE
Board the minibus to reach the starting point for the final leg of your hike: start at Saint-André-Apôtre Church for a 26-kilometre hike or at the Cavée Road rest area for an 18-kilometre hike toward Lac-Bouchette. In the morning, the trail meanders through rolling terrain featuring boreal forest landscapes, and you’ll stop for a snack break along the way. In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at the beautiful Ermitage Saint-Antoine de Lac-Bouchette (CITQ: 039955) or a similar accommodation, where you’ll settle in for the night. Take some time for a self-guided tour of this serene sanctuary, home to a replica of the Lourdes cave, the Marian chapel, the reliquary chapel, and the Elzéar-DeLamarre centre. Tickets to Origine ($), an immersive show, are also available as an option. Enjoy dinner at the cafeteria before walking to the cave and gathering around the campfire for a debriefing session (weather permitting).
