Pilgrimage to Indigenous Lands with Spiritours

Spiritours, in collaboration with Mission chez Nous, is very pleased to invite you to its first pilgrimage to Indigenous lands. The goal of this trip is to meet Indigenous communities, prioritize exchanges, and encourage reconciliation. Meet the Pekuakamiulnuatsh in Mashteuiatsh, the Huron-Wendat in Wendake, and the Abenakis in Odanak. Human encounters, cultural discoveries, and culinary delights will punctuate this beautiful journey through Quebec.

DAY 1 | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2024: MONTREAL – LA TUQUE – LAC BOUCHETTE
Departure from Montreal to La Tuque. Free lunch, then (to be confirmed) visit to the La Tuque Native Friendship Centre (RCAAQ), meeting with Alain Riendeau and members of the Wemotaci community. Dinner and overnight at L’Ermitage St-Antoine. (CITQ: 039955)

DAY 2 | SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2024: LA TUQUE – LAC BOUCHETTE
Full day discovering this unique sanctuary nestled in nature: L’Ermitage St-Antoine. Guided tour of the site, discovering art works like statues, frescoes, and stained-glass windows, hiking, access to the observation tower, museum visit, mass, and immersive multimedia show “Origine.” Dinner and overnight at L’Ermitage St-Antoine. DAY 3 | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2024: LAC BOUCHETTE – MASHTEUIATSH – LAC BOUCHETTE
Truth and Reconciliation Day. Morning departure for Mashteuiatsh, meeting with Abbé Gagné, and mass at Mashteuiatsh church. Lunch at the traditional outdoor camp. Afternoon visit to the Mashteuiatsh Ilnu Museum, with permanent and temporary exhibits. Attend the conference “Honoring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future.” Return to Lac Bouchette, dinner, and overnight at L’Ermitage St-Antoine. (CITQ: 039955)

DAY 4 | TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2024: LAC BOUCHETTE – USSHASTISH – LAC BOUCHETTE
Day at the Uashassihtsh site. Welcome with coffee and bannock under the shaputuan (long tent), followed by a conference on Ilnu culture and identity. Presentation on the steps of tanning a moose hide. Traditional meal lunch under the shaputuan. Afternoon sharing circle with a residential school survivor on “Healing through Religion and Spirituality.” Mass. Return to L’Ermitage in the late afternoon, dinner, and overnight at L’Ermitage St-Antoine. (CITQ: 039955)

DAY 5 | WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2024: LAC BOUCHETTE – WENDAKE
Mass followed by breakfast at L’Ermitage St-Antoine. Departure for Quebec, visit to the traditional Huron-Wendat site in Wendake. Discover the history, culture, and lifestyle of the Wendats. Three-course dinner at La Traite restaurant, at the First Nations Hotel Museum. Evening sound and light activity Onhwa Lumina, a night-time enchanted walk. Overnight in Wendake. (CITQ: 221983)

DAY 6 | THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2024: WENDAKE – ODANAK – MONTREAL
Mass at the church in Wendake. Departure for Odanak, visit to the Abenaki Museum, established in 1965 by the community and missionary Rémi Dolan. Discover the cultural richness of the Abenaki Nation. Lunch with Abenaki specialties. Visit the church with Nicole O’Bomsawin, a recognized Abenaki elder. Return to Montreal.

Registration – Number of participants: Minimum 15 – Maximum 20

Registration deadline: July 28, 2024 (60 days before departure or when the maximum number of passengers is reached). Late registration is possible, but a surcharge may apply.
