Huberdeau, on the shores of Rivière Rouge, stands out namely because of its Wayside Cross. Standing on the mountain-top, the view of the village and the Rivière Rouge Valley is breathtaking. When you reach the scene of Christ’s crucifixion, you will be overwhelmed by this Laurentian panorama encompassing majestic Mont-Tremblant, spread out at your feet. Huberdeau’s wayside Cross, built in 1892, the first portrayal of the Huberdeau wayside cross was made of wood. The statues were then replaced with the actual bronze-covered cast iron version between 1910 and 1920. Each of the 28 figures making up the crucifixion scene is over two meters high and weights close to 315 kg. Each year, on the first Sunday of August, an important religious rally takes place along the Stations of the Cross and a mass is held, it is known as The Wayside Cross.
